Help…My dog has Diarrhoea !!…

In a great many diseases diarrhoea is a first symptom but it can also be caused by -

Unusual food or over eating.

*** Dog’s do not like change of diet / food. Their intestinal organs set up a balance within to deal with the food fed. If you keep changing the food the body cannot cope causing the dog to have sloppy pooh!!.

Cheaper foods contain high amounts of carbs and fibres as bulking agents…these simply ferment in the intestines and cause large volumes and sometimes sloppy pooh!. in larger breeds with larger / bigger intestines this increases the chance of diarrhoea.

Simple cases of diarrhoea will respond to a 24 hour period of no solid foods and frequent drinks of water to which a little glucose has been added(heaped teaspoonful to one pint).

Veterinary attention is required urgently if motions (pooh) contains blood , mucus or pus.
