Symptoms are often described by owners as the dog behaving as if it had something stuck in its throat. This develops into a persistant cough which in some cases can lead to more generalised illness.
The scientific cause of this disease may be the canine adenovirus(cav-1) but Bordetella bronchiseptica has been implicated also.
The illness is more prevalent where a lot of dogs from different homes are housed together

And the condition is worsened by continual barking.
The infection is Airborne.

KENNEL COUGH
The disease takes time to show itself and may be many days / weeks after your visit to the kennels before it shows .
Vaccination is available and is administered by the vet ……. up the dog’s nose.
The amount actually inhaled depends on how good an aim the vet is…
…how “friendly” your dog is with the vet
…… and how much the dog “snots” out before it inhales/ absorbs in.
REMEMBER MOST KENNELS WILL NOT LET YOU BOOK IN UNLESS YOU CAN PRODUCE AN UP TO DATE VACCINE CARD.
